Founded in 1989 by Everett H. Behnke, Hard Surface Fabrications, Inc., is a full-service fabricator and authorized installer of premium solid surface materials. Our fabrication experience and knowledge of material thermalforming enables us to provide quality products to meet specific needs, such as the Kormax Shower Base, which was launched in 1992.

Our complete line provides custom solutions for baths, kitchens, laundry areas, as well as special needs and custom finishing. In additional to residential products, Hard Surface Fabrications also offers a host of solid surface products for commercial and industrial uses, including dormitories, apartments, food service, hospitals and other healthcare settings, offices, retail and public spaces. As a Certified Fabricator/Installer, HSF has the skills and equipment to transform sheet goods into finished solid surface products.

Everett H. Behnke, Owner & President, began working with Corian several years before Hard Surface Fabrications was created. The Corian product inspired him and he began to experiment with heat forming and testing applications the product might allow.

Everett's wife, Constance Y. Behnke, has worked by his side since the beginnings of the company. Constance is the Office Manager, Bookkeeper and Secretary/Treasurer of the corporation.

As the business grew, Everett Behnke moved into a leased building and hired two more employees. His son, David Behnke, had moved here from California and he came on board with Everett. David is an excellent installer and, as any fabricator knows, the quality of the finished product depends on attention to detail and expert workmanship.

In 1992, the Kormax shower base product line was launched and began to gain in popularity with remodelers. We installed all the local bases. We require these bases be installed by certified fabricators to ensure the product will perform as intended and to activate the 6-year warranty. With this requirement, Hard Surface Fabrications, Inc., began to market the base to other certified fabricators around the country.

This was a limited market as there was no easy way to contact the growing field of solid surface fabricator shops. Hard Surface Fabrications, Inc., became a charter member and attended the first and subsequent conventions as an exhibitor to showcase the Kormax shower base. Thus, a base of certified fabricators were introduced to our product and the sales began to grow. The company was successful in the local market as well and it became apparent we needed to expand. In 1995, we purchased the building.

Our base is a dependable, no nonsense answer to homeowners wishing to bring a shower into an odd shaped or difficult application. The base has also proved to be a popular addition for new homes with its seamless installation, affordability and beauty. Fabricators around the country have found the base to work exceptionally well for jobs that require large numbers of bases; such as those needed for university dorms and hospital applications.

The base can be formed from all the acrylics on the market: Corian, Hi-Macs, Staron, Gibraltar, Meganite, and Avonite. Drain placement is also an area that helps in some applications, as it can be placed anywhere within 12" of any side. We can meet requirements for your special shower wall applications.
