1. Place KORMAX base in rough opening, make sure the unit is level and shim as necessary Be sure there is fall from each corner. Remove base and prepare wet set. Mortar mix needs to be stiff. A soupy mixture will cause shrinkage when drying leaving a void next to base floor.

PLUMBER: Check drain flange for burrs or excess in casting to prevent pressure points on base when tightening bottom nut. This base is made to accept a standard 2" standpipe/4" flange shower drain.

2. Place 2-mil. plastic sheet on floor to retain mortar moisture. With mixture, form a ring around drain area, approximately 6" from drain hole. Use remainder of mixture to fill in all voids from corners to drain. Place second plastic sheet over wet set.

3. Put base into opening and work gradually down to level position. Check again to be sure the unit is level. Cut excess mortar and plastic away from threshold front.

DO NOT STAND ON OR DISTURB INSTALLATION UNTIL MORTAR HAS HARDENED.

4. Wall board is to be installed to within 3/8" of base riser, and is not to extend ahead of riser inside of base. Shower wall material is to cover riser-wall board space, and match the coved ledge on inside of the base. Use a 1/16" spacer between wall material and coved ledge (to be removed before sealing). This procedure alleviates material stress directly onto base. Apply mildew resistant sealant and ventilate during cure time.

5. Hard-seaming walls to the shower base is prohibited. Wall tiles below the riser are to be fastened with silicone. Standard drain sleeve is to be sealed with silicone in lieu of plumber's putty.

6. Maintain the KORMAX shower base with water and an abrasive cleaner. Stubborn materials or surface stains can be removed with 80-120 grit sandpaper.

7. Since thermalforming is part of the manufacturing process, seams may be visible due the nature of some of the materials used.
